The short answer
A normal memorial holds facts about a person. An AI memorial holds the way they acted: the words they used, how their voice sounded, how they would answer you when you were worried. You send us what you have. A computer learns the patterns in it. What comes back sounds like them.
It is a copy of how they came across, not the person. That is the truth, and we say it out loud instead of letting you forget it.
How it is different from other things
Memorial website
An obituary page, photos, and a guest book. Great for letting friends and family share memories. But it does not talk back, and it is not private.
Griefbot
Usually a plain chatbot with a name and a few facts added. It talks, but nothing about it is really them. That is why a lot of people do not like the idea, and that is fair.
An AI memorial (what Missedyu builds)
Built only from real things you give us: their photos, their voice, their writing, and stories only you know. The more you give, the more it feels like them. It never makes up facts about their life that you did not tell it.
What people use it for
- Hearing their voice again when one old voicemail is all that is left.
- Saying what they never got to hear: sorry, thank you, or some good news.
- Telling them about a baby, a wedding, a new job, or a bad day.
- Saving family stories in their own words for kids too young to remember.
- Getting through birthdays and anniversaries with more than a photo.
Is this okay to do?
Three questions come up every time. Here are honest answers.
Is it disrespectful to the person who died?
They cannot say yes or no after they are gone. So the family gets to decide, and taking it down has to be easy. If a family member or the estate asks us to remove someone, we do it. Every reply is marked as AI.
Does it make grief worse?
People have always kept talking to the ones they lost, through letters, visits, and one-sided chats. This is a version of that. But in the first raw weeks it can also be a way to hide from the truth. Both can be true. You know which one you are doing.
Who owns the data?
You do. Your uploads, their voice, and your chats stay in your account. You can delete them whenever you want, and we never use them for ads. See our privacy policy for the details.
Common questions
How much do you need from me?
A name and a few sentences is enough to start. One clear voice clip, even 15 seconds of a voicemail, helps a lot. Texts and notes teach it how they wrote.
Will it sound exactly like them?
No. It is close, not perfect, and it gets better the more you give it. Most people say it sounds like them, not the same as them.
Can I delete it?
Yes, anytime, for good, without asking anyone. That erases the uploads, the voice, and the chats.
Can I use it now?
Yes. You can start today with 20 free messages and no card. Founding Voice seats are limited to 28 and include 50% off your first year.
